We’re pleased to be able to offer a special free movement workshop for members. Led by professional dancer Sofie Burgoyne at King St Arts Centre on Thursday April 4th 5:30-8:30pm, this class is open for members aged 14+ register at the bottom of this post to take part, but be quick as places are limited!
Finding freedom and pleasure in movement
Sofie Burgoyne will lead a highly energetic and creative class that is suitable for participants with an interest in developing their physical training. The class will focus on spacious, physical and acrobatic movement in and out of the floor whilst working on transforming the body into a fluid tool that moves with ease. During this class participants will develop physical performance skills, work in a creative and collaborative environment, build physical confidence and learn new movement techniques.
Sofie Burgoyne graduated from WAAPA in 2007 with a Bachelor of Art Honors. Since then, she has worked with many choreographers and companies across Australia including Buzz Dance Theatre, Tasdance, Frances Rings, Chrissie Parrot, Anton, Martin del Amo, Larissa McGowan and Graeme Murphy. In 2009 Sofie was short-listed for the West Australian Dance Awards for Emerging Artist and named a ‘dancer to watch’ in Dance Australia’s 2010 & 2011 dance critics’ survey. Sofie is a recipient of the Department of Culture and Arts Young People’s Fellowship. In 2012/2013, Sofie will be dividing her time in between Perth and London working for Frantic Assembly, Lucy Guerin & Carrie Cracknell, Henri Oguike Company and Jean-Claude Gallotta.

Sophie is brilliant… young, cool, creative, successful, energised, smart, hard-working, funny, talented, gorgeous… Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to work with her.
