FOR WHAT??

Clarke in Sarajevo

WAYTCo are thrilled to announce that our major scripted work for 2011 will be Clark in Sarajevo. The production will run from the 27th of May until 11th of June at the Subiaco Theatre Centre Studio.  Rehearsals will take place at the King St Arts Centre on Tuesday evenings and Sundays from March 13th.

Clark in Sarajevo is a surreal and poetic play that traces the journey of Clark Cant, an Australian reporter who decides to become a war correspondent in an effort to challenge his ordinariness.  He goes to Sarejevo in the middle of the 44 month siege (’92 –’95) encountering lives distorted by war, stretched to the limits of their endurance. The play is about these human issues, not the external political issues of war.

Clark is a middle-class Aussie boy filled with enthusiasm for truth and adventure, but unready for the cruel and dangerous mistruths of war.  It is a very theatrically exciting play, using physical theatre and chorus techniques to evoke the chaos of civil war,  and will support a cast of up to 20 with juicy roles for all.

“This is theatre to set the heart racing: to thrill mind and spirit.” Sun Herald.

Winner of the Griffin Award for New Australian Playwriting

    Hi,
I was wondering, what sort of monologue would you be wanting an auditionee to prepare?

  2. WAYTCo says:

Jenny our director says ‘Come with something you know and are familiar with. Don’t try to prepare something especially. I just want to see you in action, and there are many roles including chorus. If you have a choice, choose something modern rather than classical.’
