Callout for writers – FIRE

Now that the heat of the Auditions for ‘Another Twin’ is over – before we get very excited announcing the cast, there’s time to announce a new direction for the theatre project ‘FIRE’ – at PICA this December.

fireWAYTCo is putting out a call for playwrights under the age of 27 who are interested in working as part of a small unpaid writing team for our end of year production FIRE. The writing process will take place under the guidance and mentorship of Reg Cribb and will culminate in a 10 day season at PICA. FIRE will feature young and emerging performers selected at open audition in early August and a professional team of director, designers and production crew. Emerging artists will also be mentored as part of this project.fire

To apply to be part of the team you need to be a member of WAYTCo and submit a short piece of writing, either a scene or a monologue. It doesn’t have to be about anything to do with fire, just an example of your writing style. Submissions should be sent to kirsty “at” waytco “dot” com

The deadline for the submission of applications is April 10th

When is the working period for writers for this project? ie. what time commitments are there and what are the dates?

    • WAYTCo says:

      Hi Michael
The project will take place in May and June. On Thursday evenings the selected group will meet with Reg at King St Arts Centre between 6 and 9pm. Writing will take place each week and at the end of June Reg Cribb will incorporate the work into a script for the play. The group will be given appropriate writing acknowledgements and credits for the production.
