WAYTCo is seeking an Artistic Director

waytco_banner_white.jpgThe WA Youth Theatre Company is a vibrant and integral part of the Western Australian theatre landscape.  Over its 24-year history it has created a wealth of opportunity and talent (such as Tim Minchin, our Arts Patron) and receives multi-year funding.

This year’s Artistic Director Kirsty Hillhouse has unfortunately had to step down from her position due to personal and family reasons. Kirsty has done an amazing job networking and developing potential partnerships and projects over the next few years laying a firm foundation for exciting work, new writing and new devised performance projects.

Our new Artistic Director will have the opportunity to develop a fresh vision for the future within WAYTCo’s proud tradition of creating powerful original performance works conceived and created by young artists to express the lives, passions and concerns of young people living in WA.

They will contribute to a new three-year plan and artistic agenda that embraces WAYTCo’s mission of promoting and developing young people as artists. The role encompasses artistic programming of all productions, workshops and creative development projects and the incubation of any other activities and partnerships relevant to the artistic vision for WAYTCo. The Artistic Director will be responsible for the overall leadership of the company together with the General Manager.

This is a part-time position (15 hours a week) with opportunities to create more work and direct large cast shows. The company will provide professional mentoring if required. WAYTCo is an equal opportunity employer.

Would you like to know more? Do you have something to offer this vital organization? A Briefing session will held on Thursday January 16 from 12 – 2 pm at King St Arts Centre with the current Artistic Director Kirsty Hillhouse and Company Dramaturg Phil Thomson.  Alternatively you can email Phil Thomson (phil@Waytco.com) or find more details on the position here.
